10 things about Liz...

  1. I am NOT a millionaire! I do NOT have a million followers and I’m not a million years old (although Paul Cookson is as old as a T-Rex!)
  2. I DO have millions of thoughts racing through my brain every minute as my imagination is unreal!
  3. I’m a noisy northerner and I live in Darlington (near Durham) with my lovely husband Mark and teenage son, George. I love being near the River Tees and I’m often found walking our family dogs around it looking for wildlife.
  4. I’ve been obsessed with drawing since I was little. Later, I studied art and design at college and university for over 6 years and have been an illustrator/author for over 25 years. I have worked hard to get my dream job and am very thankful every day.
  5. I used to want to be a kid’s TV presenter for an animal or art show as I loved acting and drama. Annoyingly, my brain can’t remember lots of words like a script so I gave up on that dream! I do love performing in front of lots of people and make them laugh.
  6. The BEST part of my job is meeting loads of lovely kids and teaching them how to draw. They are brilliant fun to be around and I can be as loud and as silly as I like! I want them to be as enthusiastic about art as I am.
  7. The weirdest part of my job is I can be loud one day and quiet the next. One day, I’ll draw in front of hundreds of school kids and the next day, I’ll sit in my studio quietly drawing. I need total silence when I’m writing. It’s a great combination.
  8. I couldn’t live without animals (especially dogs!) or bright colours! My favourite animals are goats (don’t say ‘eurghh!’) and my favourite colour is orange. Ohhhh, imagine an orange goat!?
  9. I am very active and love looking after my brain. I love running, walking and 70’s disco dancing. I read books, listen to podcasts and have music playing constantly.
  10. I have a VERY sweet tooth. I love Cadbury’s chocolate and jelly sweets but I often have to share them with Paul Cookson!
  11. I am very clumsy and I trip over and drop everything most days! I love that everyone is different. I think that the world would be a boring place if we were all the same.
  12. I’m also really bad at maths!
